Tarot Card for the Week of 2-24-13

The tarot cards hold special meanings, warnings, characteristics and actions that may need to be taken in order to change your course in life. Keep in mind that some aspects are changeable and some are not. It is all up to you. With the Queen of Swords, Minor Arcana, as the tarot card for the week of 2-24-13, this is a week in which you may be called upon to help a despondent and bitter woman come to terms with her underlying issues. However, your point of view may fall on deaf ears. But be wary of her ulterior motives. She has a tendency to gossip and spread rumors. You might also run into someone who has the ability to give you some good advice through intuition. But use your own intuition to guide you as to whom you should confide in. There may be  a woman who is claiming to be your ally, however, she is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The Queen of Swords card represents a woman with a hard exterior which she uses to cover up her inner feelings of loneliness. At the end of the week, you decide if the Queen of Swords fell in the upright or reversed position for you.

ASTROLOGICAL SIGNS OR PLANETS: LIBRA, AQUARIUS

UPRIGHT:
The Queen of Swords card, Minor Arcana, signifies an intelligent and courageous person. You keep your emotions in check and do not reveal them to others. You solve problems and connect to others intellectually. This is not a time to make decisions based on emotions. You must gather all the facts and balance the pros with the cons. When you allow sympathy and emotions to overrule your logic, this causes you to become unbalanced and irrational. You are usually unbiased in judgments of others or in tough situations. You do not skirt around the truth and you tell it like it is. At some point you may have suffered a deep emotional or physical loss. And it is not uncommon for you to be on your own, separated or widowed.

REVERSED:
This card indicates that you are no longer looking objectively at a situation. There is a distortion of the true facts. Emotions are getting in the way of logic. You may be possibly negating another person’s feelings in deference to your own. You appear removed and having a cold heart. It may be you have gotten yourself into a relationship that has started to distort your clear thinking. This has become a distraction to your goals. It also may indicate the presence of a woman in your life with a hard exterior, however her coldness is covering up her feelings of loneliness and despair. This may not be a good time to confide in her, as she is prone to malicious gossip. Some things are better left unsaid around this individual. She may come across as an ally, however her motives are different.

The Labyrinth — A Healing Experience

 Labyrinth

A labyrinth is a single geometrical winding pathway, usually acorn shaped, varying in size and used for personal, psychological and spiritual renovation. It is a sacred space with healing powers that can assist in meditation, prayer, self-awareness and connection with the Divine. Labyrinths have existed for more than 4000 years and have been an integral part of many ancient cultures and religions. During the time of the Crusades, people created and used labyrinths to symbolize the physical pilgrimage to the Holy Land. They have also been depicted on pottery and in woven fabric patterns. Some labyrinths are carved out in gardens or simply made of stones or gravel. If you do not have room to create your own walking labyrinth, you can use a drawing and trace its path with your finger. (See drawing below.) You can achieve the same benefits as walking through one. You might also try tracing the path using your non-dominant hand for an additional challenge.

A labyrinth is a unicursal maze — one path that begins at the entrance or mouth, which leads to its center and goes back out the same way. In contrast, a conventional maze is a left-brain exercise that requires the use of logic to find your way out. It is designed to stimulate the right brain, which unleashes creativity and intuition, and to give you the ability to enter a form of walking meditative state. There are no walls on the path to block site of the center goal or to block your way out.

Labyrinths represent a metaphor for your life path and the journey you are making. While walking the path of the labyrinth, either alone or with a group, focus on your feelings and emotions to allow you to connect with yourself. You may also want to choose a meditation that you are comfortable with in order to clear and quiet your mind. The uses of a labyrinth are many — relief from stress and anxiety, healing, meditation, problem solving, enhancing intuition, expanding thought processes, communicating with the Divine, balancing mind, body and spirit, letting go of unwanted energies, obtaining goals, celebrating and remembering others, building trust in yourself or others, and coping with grief, sorrow and loss.

When walking a labyrinth, leave yourself open to the different emotions that may overcome you. You may experience feelings of euphoria or feelings of despair. Whatever feelings rise to the surface, accept them as a healing experience and an opportunity for growth on your path in life.

Tarot Card for the Week of 2-17-13

The tarot cards hold special meanings, warnings, characteristics and actions that may need to be taken in order to change your course in life. Keep in mind that some aspects are changeable and some are not. It is all up to you. With the Eight of Pentacles, Minor Arcana, as the tarot card for the week of 2-17-13, this may be the week that you hard work will pay off, especially those individuals who are involved in the arts or work as crafstmen. A new venture or opportunity may fall in your lap; however, do not let your arrogance get in the way. Stay open to new ideas. Also, do not over-exaggerate what you are capable of doing. This may be a good time to leave yourself open to constructive criticism from those who care about you. If a new job is not on the horizon, you may still realize financial improvements in your life. Keep in mind that financial gains only come out of hard work and effort — not through deceptive means. Be careful not to become overly obsessed with your career and goals. Most important for this week is that you do not push your close friends away.

UPRIGHT:
The Eight of Pentacles, Minor Arcana, indicates the advancement of skills. New skills and career opportunities are indicated. Build upon skills you already possess or possibly start something completely new. Perhaps if you are creative and artistic, you will develop those talents and generate income. What once was a hobby might become a career. You might learn from the ground up by taking an entry level position or apprenticeship, but your talents will be noticed in time and you will reap the benefits. However, as always, patience is a virtue. Be sure you apply hard work, perseverance and attention to detail to all new projects. All this hard work will create positive changes in your life.

REVERSED:
You believe there is nothing new to learn in your job — you are stuck and bored. You have outgrown it or feel held back, due to your lack of patience. This may be causing you anxiety because you are too focused on the financial rewards rather than learning. You may be rushing things and therefore missing important details necessary to perform your job. You have put your goals ahead of your friendships. Your arrogance may be getting in the way of asking for advice. Don’t be so concerned about how others perceive you. It also might be that you are not living up to your true potential. You will need to prove yourself and take responsibility for your own growth. Consider looking into what really makes you happy in your work. A new direction might be necessary or you might want to start a new venture. This might be a time to take some courses to improve yourself. It is also not a time to give up. Do not let laziness stand in your way.

It may also be an indication that you are overdoing it and being self-centered. Be careful of abusing substances. This card can also indicate someone unfaithful. The card can also mean that there is someone giving you a message who cannot be trusted. There is knowledge being used to take advantage of business and financial matters. This individual is to be avoided at all costs. There are deals being made behind your back and people are being played against each other. Be careful of this ruthless hypocrite. Types of Hauntings

 ghosthaunting

A haunting is a paranormal phenomenon of either the appearance of a spirit or supernatural being or the replay of an action or event that took place at a specific location in the past. Four common types of hauntings are given below. As yet, there are no scientific explanations for hauntings; however, parapsychologists continue to look for answers.

Residual Haunting
A residual haunting, also known as a place memory, is the most common type of haunting. In most cases it does not involve a ghost or spirit interacting with the people who are witnessing it. This type of sighting is a remnant of a past traumatic event that happened at or near the location prior to someone’s death. For example, an apparition of a woman may be seen repeatedly looking out of an upstairs bedroom window and pacing the floor. Or noises without a visual scene may be heard, such as footsteps. This same scene or sounds are repeated over and over again in an unchanging loop and often at specific times. Residual hauntings are records of energy that have been imprinted in the area in which the event took place. They are not a direct communication with the living, in fact, they are quite benign and harmless. Some people are more sensitive to observing these hauntings and typically they occur in older buildings, homes and battlefields. It is possible to do some historical research of a location to determine the event that might have caused the haunting.

Intelligent Haunting
An intelligent haunting is also known as a traditional or classic haunting. It is called an intelligent haunting due to the fact that the spirit is aware of and able to interact and communicate with those living in the physical world. These spirits want to get the attention of the living and they can move or hide objects, send signals or even speak to do so. The optimal time for ghostly appearances is during the late night hours, but the spirits who can muster up enough energy can make their presence known in the daytime. There can be many reasons why an intelligent haunting occurs. In many cases, some entities choose to stick around their loved ones, for example, grandparents around younger children. Some are unaware that they have died because it may have happened suddenly. In those instances, the assistance of a psychic medium may be necessary to help them cross over to the other side. Other times, the spirit may not be visible — a cold spot, experiencing chills and goosebumps or feeling as if someone is staring at you are signs. Sometimes the spirit refuses to cross over until a major issue or unfinished business is resolved in family, business or financial matters. Most of these ghosts are not malicious — they just want to be noticed and have their message heard.

Poltergeist Haunting
The word poltergeist means “noisy ghost” and the term comes from the German words “poltern,” which means to make noise and “geist,” which means ghost. Poltergeist hauntings usually take the form of objects moved, hidden or thrown, disturbing noises, interference with electronic devices, physical attacks and even spontaneous combustion. Objects have also been known to disappear and reappear. Ghosts can be the culprits for these disturbances but some incidents are believed to be the result of psychokinesis (PK), the power to move objects with the mind, consciously or unconsciously. If PK is the cause of the haunting, the individual is most likely moving the objects — unknowingly and unconsciously, due to a compounding of some overwhelming stress or emotional angst the person is suffering in life. Poltergeist hauntings have been associated with young adolescent girls; however, they are not limited to that group. The haunting usually affects a person, female or male, who is possibly under great duress. However, it takes its toll on the whole household or group. Poltergeist hauntings can be sometimes playful or sometimes malicious.  When the intent is malicious, objects might be placed in such a way that could cause harm. The hauntings usually start out slowly and increase in intensity until it reaches its peak. This is when the occurrences can be the most dangerous. However, sometimes the disturbances stop abruptly and are never repeated again.

Demonic Haunting
In demonic hauntings, the main goal of the demon is to break down a person’s free will so that it can take over and possess the individual. The deceptive evil spirit enters a home or location to do harm and destroy all that is good and sacred. The demon not only can possess people, it can attach itself to objects. At first, these types of hauntings or possessions may seem benign or non-threatening. They can appear similar to poltergeist hauntings as they usually start out with slight disturbances, such as knocking noises, furniture being moved, etc. The demon may appear as a dark shadow in a location or may first show itself as a benevolent spirit. When the demon finally reveals itself, foul odors, extreme temperature changes and even physical attack can occur. Demons also have the ability to transform and shape shift from human to animal. The demon will try to convince the individual that it is no longer present; however, it lays in wait to strike at a time when the individual is weak or vulnerable. The demon becomes stronger when it senses fear and that is the time when a possession can take place.  Another sign of possession is that the possessed individual becomes fluent in many languages, speaks in tongues or has gained knowledge in subjects you knew nothing about prior. The individual possessed will become a shell of his former self and become terribly cruel to those he loves. This type of haunting is not easily resolved — it requires an exorcism. Seek guidance and help from highly trained paranormal investigators, clergymen and others familiar with demonic hauntings.

In conclusion, due to the popularization of ghosts, hauntings and investigations by the media today, this topic has generated a lot of “buzz.” There are always going to be believers and non-believers. Paranormal phenomena co-exist with the physical world, and with the added media attention, hopefully more concrete explanations will be revealed and documented.
