Tarot Card for the Week of 9-6-15

The tarot cards hold special meanings, warnings, characteristics and actions that may need to be taken in order to change your course in life. Keep in mind that some aspects are changeable and some are not. It is all up to you. With the Hermit card as the tarot card for the week of 9-6-15, this may be the week to step back and catch your breath. Hermit reminds you to reflect on what is most important in your life right now. You will find the answers deep within yourself. You may even benefit from some solitude at a tranquil spot. Beware of feelings of rejection, loneliness or being unwanted. If you let your ego get in the way, you may find yourself acting very foolish. Also, don’t be surprised if there is a cancellation or postponement of plans. At the end of the week, you decide if the Hermit card appeared in the upright or reversed position for you.

MAJOR ARCANA NUMBER 9

ASTROLOGICAL SIGN or PLANET: VIRGO, MERCURY

UPRIGHT:
The Hermit card, Major Arcana, denotes a need to have some space between yourself and the every day hustle and bustle of a busy world. It is necessary for the Hermit to retreat. Happiness for the Hermit requires seclusion, freedom from material wants and time for intense introspection. The answers cannot be found in the physical world. The truths he seeks are internal and spiritual. The Hermit is not arrogant or egotistical. His compassion is used to help others on their path. The distraction of a well-developed social life can only impede his quest for personal truths. Although not anything remotely resembling an extrovert, the Hermit does need to share time with others so that he can learn, teach, guide or be guided. The Hermit’s time spent with people depletes his energy quickly. This is a time that you may want to meditate, reevaluate the direction your life is taking and further develop your own spirituality.

REVERSED:
In the reversed position, the Hermit card signifies loneliness, self-pity, immaturity and acting hastily without thinking. It may indicate that you or someone you know is claiming to know more than they really do and is boasting to be the expert. You may be living in the past and refusing to look at your current situation and make changes. Perhaps you have isolated yourself to an extreme and you may be feeling very alone. Do not become so self-absorbed that you isolate yourself from your loved ones. On the other hand, you might have such an exaggerated fear of loneliness, that you are staying in an unhealthy relationship to avoid the emptiness. The card may also be an indication that you have set aside all the spiritual knowledge you have or that you have lost your spiritual self. Also, there is a lack of accepting the consequences of your behavior. This card may be asking if you are getting the best advice available from someone or are you being too arrogant to listen to those who might help you. You have become inflexible. Are you taking responsibility for your own actions or are you blaming the consequences on others? This may be a time to step up to the plate and face reality.

The Labyrinth — A Healing Experience

 Labyrinth

A labyrinth is a single geometrical winding pathway, usually acorn shaped, varying in size and used for personal, psychological and spiritual renovation. It is a sacred space with healing powers that can assist in meditation, prayer, self-awareness and connection with the Divine. Labyrinths have existed for more than 4000 years and have been an integral part of many ancient cultures and religions. During the time of the Crusades, people created and used labyrinths to symbolize the physical pilgrimage to the Holy Land. They have also been depicted on pottery and in woven fabric patterns. Some labyrinths are carved out in gardens or simply made of stones or gravel. If you do not have room to create your own walking labyrinth, you can use a drawing and trace its path with your finger. (See drawing below.) You can achieve the same benefits as walking through one. You might also try tracing the path using your non-dominant hand for an additional challenge.

A labyrinth is a unicursal maze — one path that begins at the entrance or mouth, which leads to its center and goes back out the same way. In contrast, a conventional maze is a left-brain exercise that requires the use of logic to find your way out. It is designed to stimulate the right brain, which unleashes creativity and intuition, and to give you the ability to enter a form of walking meditative state. There are no walls on the path to block site of the center goal or to block your way out.

Labyrinths represent a metaphor for your life path and the journey you are making. While walking the path of the labyrinth, either alone or with a group, focus on your feelings and emotions to allow you to connect with yourself. You may also want to choose a meditation that you are comfortable with in order to clear and quiet your mind. The uses of a labyrinth are many — relief from stress and anxiety, healing, meditation, problem solving, enhancing intuition, expanding thought processes, communicating with the Divine, balancing mind, body and spirit, letting go of unwanted energies, obtaining goals, celebrating and remembering others, building trust in yourself or others, and coping with grief, sorrow and loss.

When walking a labyrinth, leave yourself open to the different emotions that may overcome you. You may experience feelings of euphoria or feelings of despair. Whatever feelings rise to the surface, accept them as a healing experience and an opportunity for growth on your path in life.

Let the Spirits Do the Writing

Automatic writing or drawing is the act of putting pen to paper and automatically and spontaneously producing writings or drawings without forethought or prior knowledge of what to write or draw. Automatic writing is used as a tool for therapists, writers and psychics.

As a therapeutic modality, psychologists and psychotherapists use it to help patients tap into their subconscious mind and thoughts. This gives the patient and therapist a better understanding of what may be repressed and what is going on in the subconscious mind. To accomplish this, some therapists have used hypnosis to relax their patients into a trance-like state so that the conscious mind chatter does not get in the way of the writing or drawing.

Automatic writing is also an excellent tool to help writer’s suffering from “writer’s block.” It helps hone in writing skills and sparks creative ideas in the conscious mind. Practicing this technique opens up and unblocks the writer’s abilities and talents.

During the time of the Spiritualist movement in the mid-1800s, automatic writing was accepted as a way for psychics and even ordinary people to connect with the spirit world. It is also known as “spirit” or “trance” writing and it continues to be a widely used divination today. Many people practicing this divination claim that as the spirit or entity sends messages through them, it feels as though the spirit is moving the arm and hand over the paper.
HOW TO GET STARTED
Although you are probably more used to a computer for writing these days, it is best to use pen and paper due to the fact that they give you the ability to draw images or symbols.

Find a quiet place and a comfortable chair and table. Clear your mind of the unwanted chatter, as it can be distracting and block the flow. It is a good idea to meditate as a calming exercise. (If you are using it as a divination tool, keep in mind that when connecting with the spirit world, there are some people who have channeled negative energies or spirits. Ask for protection from a higher power before you begin. Call on any spirits that might be near you or around you. Give the spirit permission to channel through your writing or drawing.) Do not allow your mind to filter out anything that is coming through. Just allow messages to flow, even if you don’t know quite where they fit in. When you have completed the writing or drawing, contemplate on what messages you received. Put away your pen or computer until your next session.

No matter for what purpose your use of automatic writing or drawing is intended, don’t get discouraged if it seems not to make sense right away. Over time and with patience and practice, it will start to flow and you will begin to reap its benefits.

Psychic Survival Tips for the Holidays

With the holiday season upon us, you might notice your stress levels rising. Like it or not, you will be close to family, friends, co-workers and even strangers. Emotions run high during office and dinner parties, shopping malls and waiting in long lines. To get through this time of year with little or no emotional damage, take a tip from the psychics.

Whether or not you are psychic, you can use these methods to protect yourself from harboring another person’s negative emotions, either from the physical or spirit worlds. Your mind and body are great receivers. Sensitivity to stimuli around you triggers gut feelings on an emotional level. Although you cannot avoid all of your emotional responses, you can protect yourself from many of the unwanted ones. These negative feelings may not have come from within you; they may have come from an outside source.

The auras around your body reveal information about your emotions and responses. Because you can project your auras to others, this makes you vulnerable to other people’s aura projections.

For example, some people have difficulty being in large crowds or get the feeling that someone is sucking out all of their positive energies, like a psychic vampire. This makes them feel dizzy and closed in — not feeling like themselves and even having disturbing dreams. Whether you are a psychic, empath, intuitive, highly sensitive person or a healer working with energies, you have probably experienced these feelings at some time in your life.

At times it is difficult to identify the cause of your discomfort. It can take a lot of soul searching and insight into your encounters with others. It may take another psychic to help pinpoint the source, as he or she is sensitive to positive and negative energies, and particularly to those coming from the spirit world.

For example, you may be enjoying yourself at a party and all of a sudden you experience a downward spiral and anxiety. You feel overwhelmed, want to get out and do not understand why. Don’t blame yourself. These feelings might be caused by another individual at the party who is harboring negative energy or a lot of sadness due to either his/her own bad memories about the holidays or is reminded of a tragedy or death that occurred during this time of year. This would be an instance in which you could implement psychic protection techniques. If this situation has happened before, it would be a good idea to perform the protection exercises prior to attending any party or gathering. There are quite a few simple solutions and ones that work rather quickly.

The following steps should be taken in order to keep you protected from invasion. Stay physically, emotionally and spiritually healthy. Focus on personal grounding. When you are weak in any of these areas you are more susceptible to illness and depression. Many meditations focus on grounding, particularly those that incorporate the chakras. Balanced and aligned chakras are a main factor in keeping your auras healthy and protected. A heightened sense of awareness and good feeling will be realized.

Also, you can visualize that your body is being showered with an imaginary bubble of white light. This white light is your protection. It emotionally guards you from the negative energies and feelings that are projected on you from others. Continue by imagining your auras glowing in a bright, blue light. This visualization amplifies your positive emotions of morality, good and love. There is no room for any opposing energies.

Finally, call upon your angels, spirit guides and God for protection. With their assistance, you will further empower yourself and be shielded from any psychic attacks or negative attachments.

Chakra Alignment and Benefits

Use the interactive chart below to explore the different chakras and their meanings. Aligning the chakras is not only important for a healthy mind, body and spirit, but proper balance between them can open the doorway to psychic abilities and development. Once you understand the impact each chakra has, as well as its location within the body, you will be able to perform and visualize the following chakra alignment meditation.

Find a place that is free of noise and distractions. Light a scented candle or a chakra energy candle. Select an image to focus on in your mind. Some people use a mandala, a beautiful set of geometric shapes layered on top of one another. It is essential to lie down flat on your back or sit in a comfortable chair with your feet touching the ground.

Close your eyes and begin to take a long, slow deep breath and inhale through your nose. Hold it in for one second and breathe out through your mouth. Imagine you are inhaling a “plus” sign and exhaling a “minus” sign.

You might want to play some soft background music or use a mantra to assist you in quieting your mind. A mantra is a word or short phrase that you repeat to yourself. This will help shut off unwanted mental chatter.

Continue breathing at this slow, deep pace. Inhale the plus signs. Exhale the minus signs. You are breathing in prana — universal life-force energy.

Good. Keep breathing at this pace for a while. Do this until you feel a calmness throughout your entire body and mind.

Notice your arms and legs being supported by the bed or chair. Listen to the background music or even a ticking clock. Focus on your mantra. Take in the smell of the candle. Be aware of any good tastes in your mouth and keep it moist.

Start to imagine an escalator moving slowly upward into a multitude of colored mists. Step on the escalator.

As it moves upward, it slows down as it approaches a red colored mist. This red mist represents your root chakra and its energy flowing from the lower part of your body. Breathe it in deeply. Hold it. Let it out slowly. Tell yourself that you are physically grounded and that this energy can flow freely up throughout your whole body.

As the escalator continues to move, the red mist changes to a bright orange mist, which represents your sacral chakra. The mist is flowing from the area of your navel. Breathe it in deeply. Hold it. Let it out slowly. Tell yourself that you are virile and creative. Visualize the energy from the red mist flowing freely into the orange mist.

The next mist is a bright canary yellow, which represents your solar plexus chakra. It emanates from just above your navel. Breathe it in deeply. Hold it. Let it out slowly. Tell yourself that you are disciplined and intuitive. Your gut feelings are real. See the red and orange mists flowing into the yellow.

The escalator now moves toward a bright green mist, which flows from your heart and chest. Breathe it in deeply. Hold it. Let it out slowly. This is the area of your heart chakra. Communicate to yourself that you are loved and that you love unconditionally. Forgiveness allows this energy to move forward.

The mists of red, orange, yellow and green are now connecting to a vivid turquoise/aqua mist. This mist, which represents your throat chakra, is radiating from your throat. Breathe it in deeply. Hold it. Let it out slowly. Express to yourself that you are communicative and creative. Now see all these colors streaming into a mist of indigo.

This indigo colored mist emerges from the brow area above your eyes. Breathe it in deeply. Hold it. Let it out slowly. This is the energy from your third eye or brow chakra, through which you can see beyond the physical world. See it shoot out into the universe. Now reaffirm your wisdom and extrasensory abilities.

Look down the escalator at all the colors aligned together and connecting to a deep violet mist at the top of your head. This is your crown chakra. Deeply breathe in the Divine violet mist. Hold it. Let it out slowly. Tell yourself that you have a greater understanding of your inner and outer self. You are at this moment one with the universe.

You have just completed an alignment of your chakras. As you arise from your current position, reflect on the feelings that you have experienced. Repeat this exercise over and over. Eventually, you will start to get a stronger connection to your psychic self. If you encounter disarray on your life, this meditation will help you to achieve self-balance, which, in turn, smooths your journey of developing your psychic abilities.
