Buying a House ? Buyer Beware

hauntedhouse?

Finding the perfect home, either to rent or to buy, can be a time-consuming and stressful process, i.e., searching for the right location, inspecting the home for hidden problems, testing the systems and appliances, as well as making sure you can afford the cost.
?
Just when you thought you had covered all of your bases, did you research whether anyone died in the house, if the property had been a crime scene or if the current or previous occupants experienced any paranormal activity there? Is the seller?s reason for putting the home on the market because it is haunted? In fact, a website has been launched that provides information for home buyers on whether someone has died in their home (www.diedinhouse.com).
?
In the majority of states, sellers and realtors do NOT have a legal obligation to disclose a murder/crime scene, suicide or death associated with a property for sale. In California, no death disclosure is required if the death occurred more than three years before the sale date. However, if a buyer asks about a death, the law does require its disclosure, no matter when it occurred. Many brokerage firms have supplemental disclosure forms that specifically address death associated with a property. Also, some states go as far as requiring a disclosure for properties where violent crimes took place.
?
If you are looking into purchasing or renting an older home, perhaps one that has been boarded up for some time, it would be prudent to check with the local library, newspaper archives or neighbors about its history, its vacancy or whether the home, at one point in time, had ever been used as a hospital, mortuary, orphanage or insane asylum.
?
So, as the Latin saying goes, ?caveat emptor,? which means, ?Let the buyer beware.? If you have not done your homework, and buy or rent a home with a hauntingly eerie past, listed below are some of the paranormal signs you might experience.

1.? Your children may have imaginary playmates that they never had before.

2.? You may hear strange, unexplainable noises.

3.? Items may disappear or disappear and reappear.

4.? Electronics may not function properly and turn on and off by themselves.

5.? Cabinet doors may open without physically opening them and faucets may run without physically turning them on.

6.? You may see out of the corner of your eye, a dark figure moving around, which is sometimes referred to as a shadow figure.

7.? Unnecessary tension may be noticeable in the household between roommates or family members. Also, the behavior of one or more individuals may drastically change to aggressiveness or anger.

8.? Pets may act strangely and sometimes refuse to enter the house or certain rooms.

9.? You may see apparitions that flow through walls and doors within the house.

10. Various areas in the house may drastically change in temperature.

Options are available to identify and remove unwanted paranormal activities. Or perhaps these paranormal signs are just what you have been looking for. In other words, some people live with the paranormal, some people run from it and other people clear it out.

Tarot Card for the Week of 6-9-13

The tarot cards hold special meanings, warnings, characteristics and actions that may need to be taken in order to change your course in life. Keep in mind that some aspects are changeable and some are not. It is all up to you. With the Death card, Major Arcana, as the tarot card for the week of 6-9-13, this is not the week of impending doom or death. It just might be the week that you can? let go of some of your old thinking, beliefs or habits which will open the doorway for new beginnings that will create changes for the better. Part of letting go involves learning lessons from past mistakes. Make sure that you do not fight the new opportunities that are coming your way. You might also take this week to evaluate your relationships. You may find that some of them have been draining your energy. If that is the case, it might be time for you to let go. If you find yourself feeling depressed or stagnated, ask yourself if you have been giving 100 percent in your life. Try to reconnect with your own energy and passion for life. Do not let fear hold you back. The Death card can also be taken as a warning of bad news, an accident, turmoil or even the passing of someone you know.

THE DEATH CARD

MAJOR ARCANA, NUMBER 13

ASTROLOGICAL SIGN or PLANET: SCORPIO, MARS, PLUTO

UPRIGHT:
The Death card is not associated exclusively with the end of human life. The card is more about endings, which can include the completion of a chapter in your life, a turning point of some kind or a time of renewal ? all of which could bring about new and positive beginnings. It is time to focus on the important things in your life. Decide what things are no longer necessary to hold on to. It can also denote the end of a bad relationship or a change in status that can result in an unexpected, life-altering change. You may be resistant to change, but you must remember that it is for the best. Additionally, the card can indicate a transition point, the need to eliminate excesses and to let go of old ideas, problems and baggage. Keep in mind that it can also indicate the death of an ailing or elderly individual you may know.
REVERSED:
When the card appears in the reverse position it can point toward a refusal to change or an inability to move forward. You may be stagnated or feeling stuck, which may result in an agonizing time in your life. It also suggests avoiding the end of something, holding on to the past or a fear of the future. You may find that you are the one getting in the way of beneficial changes. Also, you may be experiencing mental and physical exhaustion and finding yourself in a period of feeling too listless to make changes.

Seeing a Hearse Go By

The hearse is a most notorious icon of death and mourning. Numerous superstitions, gestures and beliefs are connected to this vehicle. Just the mere sight of a hearse can stir up many emotions about our own mortality.

Since the time of horse drawn hearses, a common belief was that if you saw a hearse, you would be the next to die. To avoid such a horrible curse, in Victorian times, it was believed that holding a button could ward off this demise. Others held a button until they saw a bird. Some people would go as far as to hold their breath, close their eyes and put their feet up in the air.

Another old belief is that a hearse drawn by two horses (especially white ones) signified a death would happen in the neighborhood in the very near future.

One of the more interesting traditions about hearses passing by is taken from Japanese culture. Hiding one?s thumb in a fist while the hearse passed was done to protect the parents from an early death. (The thumb is a representation of the ?parent? finger, called ”oya yubi” in Japanese.)

Another superstition is based on which direction you see the hearse moving. If the hearse is moving toward you and empty, it is considered good luck in some parts of the United States. In other areas of the U.S., it could bring on three days of good or bad luck. On the other hand, if a hearse is empty and moving away from you, you are close to death.

Some people believe that if they see their reflection in the window of a hearse, it is a bad sign. No matter what, a hearse is the sign of imminent death. Most people have some type of superstitions about seeing one, and most of us will be unable to avoid being the passenger in one way or another. And by the way, you don?t ever want to be the first person to drive a brand new hearse ? it is definitely bad luck.
