Beware of feelings of rejection, loneliness or being unwanted. If you let your ego get in the way, you may find yourself acting very foolish. The Hermit card, Major Arcana, denotes a need to have some space between yourself and the every day hustle and bustle of a busy world. It is necessary for the Hermit to retreat. Happiness for the Hermit requires seclusion, freedom from material wants and time for intense introspection. The answers cannot be found in the physical world. The truths he seeks are internal and spiritual. The Hermit is not arrogant or egotistical. His compassion is used to help others on their path. The distraction of a well-developed social life can only impede his quest for personal truths. Although not anything remotely resembling an extrovert, the Hermit does need to share time with others so that he can learn, teach, guide or be guided. The Hermit?s time spent with people depletes his energy quickly. This is a time that you may want to meditate, reevaluate the direction your life is taking and further develop your own spirituality.


In the reversed position, the Hermit card signifies loneliness, self-pity, immaturity and acting hastily without thinking. It may indicate that you or someone you know is claiming to know more than they really do and is boasting to be the expert. You may be living in the past and refusing to look at your current situation and make changes. Perhaps you have isolated yourself to an extreme and you may be feeling very alone. Do not become so self-absorbed that you isolate yourself from your loved ones. On the other hand, you might have such an exaggerated fear of loneliness, that you are staying in an unhealthy relationship to avoid the emptiness. The card may also be an indication that you have set aside all the spiritual knowledge you have or that you have lost your spiritual self. Also, there is a lack of accepting the consequences of your behavior. This card may be asking if you are getting the best advice available from someone or are you being too arrogant to listen to those who might help you. You have become inflexible. Are you taking responsibility for your own actions or are you blaming the consequences on others? This may be a time to step up to the plate and face reality.

Also, you can visualize that your body is being showered with an imaginary bubble of white light. This white light is your protection. It emotionally guards you from the negative energies and feelings that are projected on you from others. Continue by imagining your auras glowing in a bright, blue light. This visualization amplifies your positive emotions of morality, good and love. There is no room for any opposing energies.


Finally, call upon your angels, spirit guides and God for protection. With their assistance, you will further empower yourself and be shielded from any psychic attacks or negative attachments.
