Chakra Alignment and Benefits

Use the interactive chart below to explore the different chakras and their meanings. Aligning the chakras is not only important for a healthy mind, body and spirit, but proper balance between them can open the doorway to psychic abilities and development. Once you understand the impact each chakra has, as well as its location within the body, you will be able to perform and visualize the following chakra alignment meditation.

Find a place that is free of noise and distractions. Light a scented candle or a chakra energy candle. Select an image to focus on in your mind. Some people use a mandala, a beautiful set of geometric shapes layered on top of one another. It is essential to lie down flat on your back or sit in a comfortable chair with your feet touching the ground.

Close your eyes and begin to take a long, slow deep breath and inhale through your nose. Hold it in for one second and breathe out through your mouth. Imagine you are inhaling a ?plus? sign and exhaling a ?minus? sign.

You might want to play some soft background music or use a mantra to assist you in quieting your mind. A mantra is a word or short phrase that you repeat to yourself. This will help shut off unwanted mental chatter.

Continue breathing at this slow, deep pace. Inhale the plus signs. Exhale the minus signs. You are breathing in prana ? universal life-force energy.

Good. Keep breathing at this pace for a while. Do this until you feel a calmness throughout your entire body and mind.

Notice your arms and legs being supported by the bed or chair. Listen to the background music or even a ticking clock. Focus on your mantra. Take in the smell of the candle. Be aware of any good tastes in your mouth and keep it moist.

Start to imagine an escalator moving slowly upward into a multitude of colored mists. Step on the escalator.

As it moves upward, it slows down as it approaches a red colored mist. This red mist represents your root chakra and its energy flowing from the lower part of your body. Breathe it in deeply. Hold it. Let it out slowly. Tell yourself that you are physically grounded and that this energy can flow freely up throughout your whole body.

As the escalator continues to move, the red mist changes to a bright orange mist, which represents your sacral chakra. The mist is flowing from the area of your navel. Breathe it in deeply. Hold it. Let it out slowly. Tell yourself that you are virile and creative. Visualize the energy from the red mist flowing freely into the orange mist.

The next mist is a bright canary yellow, which represents your solar plexus chakra. It emanates from just above your navel. Breathe it in deeply. Hold it. Let it out slowly. Tell yourself that you are disciplined and intuitive. Your gut feelings are real. See the red and orange mists flowing into the yellow.

The escalator now moves toward a bright green mist, which flows from your heart and chest. Breathe it in deeply. Hold it. Let it out slowly. This is the area of your heart chakra. Communicate to yourself that you are loved and that you love unconditionally. Forgiveness allows this energy to move forward.

The mists of red, orange, yellow and green are now connecting to a vivid turquoise/aqua mist. This mist, which represents your throat chakra, is radiating from your throat. Breathe it in deeply. Hold it. Let it out slowly. Express to yourself that you are communicative and creative. Now see all these colors streaming into a mist of indigo.

This indigo colored mist emerges from the brow area above your eyes. Breathe it in deeply. Hold it. Let it out slowly. This is the energy from your third eye or brow chakra, through which you can see beyond the physical world. See it shoot out into the universe. Now reaffirm your wisdom and extrasensory abilities.

Look down the escalator at all the colors aligned together and connecting to a deep violet mist at the top of your head. This is your crown chakra. Deeply breathe in the Divine violet mist. Hold it. Let it out slowly. Tell yourself that you have a greater understanding of your inner and outer self. You are at this moment one with the universe.

You have just completed an alignment of your chakras. As you arise from your current position, reflect on the feelings that you have experienced. Repeat this exercise over and over. Eventually, you will start to get a stronger connection to your psychic self. If you encounter disarray on your life, this meditation will help you to achieve self-balance, which, in turn, smooths your journey of developing your psychic abilities.

Gratitude from the Grave

By Donnie Tash
Co-Founder of Psychic Library

After a loved one passes away, whether having suffered from a long illness or suddenly, we are totally grief stricken. At this time, we realize that final arrangements for a funeral or memorial service need to be made. During the process of saying goodbye to our loved ones, we try to make the ceremony special and honor their wishes. Many times people do little things, such as placing a personal memento next to the body or talking about and remembering special events that took place while they were alive.

I recently gave a reading to a woman who was referred to me by a friend. She was curious to know if she was receiving messages from her recently deceased brother. As I began her reading, many of her deceased loved ones started to communicate with her from the other side. Specific names were revealed to me, so I was sure we had made a connection. Her brother started to come through and he validated things that had taken place and wanted her to know that he was aware of her actions. As the reading began to wind down, I asked her about a blue object that was at the funeral. I asked her ?What was the blue all about? Something that was put near him in blue?? She told me that he loved the University of Michigan and Duke University and that he wore Michigan team clothing all the time. I then stated that he was buried in a blue Michigan shirt. She said yes, he was.

So, even the smallest things that we do to honor our loved ones do not go unnoticed. Our loved ones from the other side are grateful for everything. Even their belongings that we continue to cherish, such as a piece of jewelry, picture or medal, are reminders that they are still loved and never forgotten and can serve as a link to open a connection with them on the other side.

Nothing To Sneeze At!

The development of sneezing superstitions came about due to early man?s belief that his breath was representative of his own soul. Breathing in was breathing in life. Sneezing was a swift release of that essence or soul. If the soul left the body through a sneeze, it was presumed the individual would die without his soul. The mysteries and superstitions surrounding sneezing most probably continued on from this point.

Although you may think it is merely the polite thing to do, blessing people after they sneeze is actually a very common superstition and is practiced all over the world. It is believed that saying ?God Bless You? dates back to February 16, 590AD, when pope Gregory the Great decreed that prayers be said to fight against a deadly plague in Italy. This plague seemed to be fatal to those who sneezed. So it followed that the sneeze represented certain illness and using ?God Bless You? would protect people from the effects of the disease.

Saying ?God Bless You,? is also believed to date back to 1665, when the black plague took over Europe. Violent sneezing was noted to be one of the end-stage symptoms of it before death. Thus, the pope made it a law that anyone who sneezed must be blessed, as the individual?s death was imminent. During that same era, everyone was mandated to cover their mouths with their hand or a cloth, so as not to further spread the disease.

There are other superstitions surrounding sneezing. When someone sneezed, it was either a sign of good fortune or an omen of bad luck. This dates back to the early Greeks, Romans and Egyptians. They believed that a sneeze was their own personal prophet, forewarning them of danger and forecasting future good and evil. Additionally, one would be congratulated upon sneezing because the evil spirits were freed from embodiment. It was also believed at that time that a sneeze during a conversation revealed the truth of a statement. Even today, you may hear somebody say, ?I sneezed on the truth.?

In 17th century England, if a sneeze was heard, it was customary for all who were nearby to remove their hats, curtsy or bow and wish ?God Bless You.? As time went on, in the 1800?s in England, a rhyme was penned that described the out comes of sneezing on the various days in the week:

Sneeze on Monday, sneeze for danger.

Sneeze on Tuesday, kiss a stranger.

Sneeze on Wednesday, sneeze for a letter.

Sneeze on Thursday, something better.

Sneeze on Friday, sneeze for woe.

Sneeze on Saturday, a journey to go.

Sneeze on Sunday, your safety seek ? for Satan will have you for the rest of the week!

Some other superstitions with respect to sneezing are commonly seen throughout the literature. These include the following. It is good luck to sneeze between noon and midnight. It is bad luck to sneeze while getting dressed in the morning because bad luck will be with you during the day. It is a good omen for the whole family if the family cat sneezes. It is also good luck if two people sneeze at the same time.

It is bad luck to turn your head to the left while sneezing, but good luck if you turn to the right. It is also bad luck to sneeze one or three times. However, sneeze twice and it is an omen of good luck. In Japan, sneezing once is that someone is speaking kindly about you, twice is that someone is not speaking highly of you and three times is that someone is speaking disparagingly about you and four times is the sign of a cold.

Physiologically speaking, a sneeze is a reaction to irritating foreign particles, allergies, illness or a cold. Another known fact is that sudden exposure to bright light can bring on a sneeze. Overall, it is one of the body?s reflexive responses. Whether or not a sneeze has superstitious meaning is up to you.

It’s All in the Head Lines

The head line, also known as the wisdom line (considered one of the most important lines in Chinese palmistry), reveals mental and psychological makeup and intellectual development and intuitive abilities. This line begins just above the life line, between the thumb and the index finger and runs across the palm toward the other edge of the palm horizontally. Sometimes the head line begins directly on the life line and extends out from there. This means that you have a strong will ? mind over matter. Forked lines are also sometimes called the writer’s fork or the lawyer’s fork.

Listed below are the meanings of the various shapes, depths and lengths of the?head line:

Long ? Indicates intelligence and a good memory. Represents an individual who thinks things through and does not overreact. They look at many possibilities before taking action.

Very long, extending across entire palm ? Indicates a very successful individual and not the cowardly type. May have a tendency to be selfish.

Long and straight ? Indicates a versatile, complex individual.

Straight ? This indicates an individual who is realistic, down-to-earth, unimaginative, materialistic, logical, good organizational skills or a having great attention to detail.

Wavy ? This signifies inner conflict with an individual?s practical and emotional sides. It can also indicate an individual who is untrustworthy, restless, unstable or has a short attention span.

Curved or sloping ? Indicates a romantic and creative and idealistic individual who is open to new ideas and is not afraid to investigate concepts or beliefs. This person trusts his inklings and intuition.

Faint ? This signifies and inability to concentrate or a lack of common sense, a daydreamer.

Forked ? If the line ends with a strong fork, it is called a writer?s fork or lawyer?s fork. This person enjoys debate and can see both sides of an issue. This indicates great imagination and someone who uses his psychic powers and writing and speaking abilities throughout life.

Hooked ? This indicates a self-centered, untrustworthy individual. If the hook is low in the palm, the individual can be miserly, selfish and cheap.

Branches ? These signify events that are yet to come. They can also represent distractions that take an individual off his intellectual path.

Branched upward ? Signifies positive outcomes and success in career, academics and creativity. Sometimes indicates having big dreams without being centered.

Branched downward ? Signifies signs of struggle, possible depression, sorrow and distress and disappointments in certain points in life.

Friday The 13th

?

Friday the 13th is almost here! Did you know that in 2012, there are THREE Friday the 13ths? The first one was in January, the upcoming one is in April and the last one strikes in July. In fact, each of those dates are 13 weeks apart.

?

The following information is taken from the Psychic Library Superstition Room.

?

There is a term for a fear of the number 13 ? triskaidekaphobia, of Greek origin. The term for a fear of Friday the 13th is paraskevidekatriaphobia.

?

Across many cultures, the belief that the number 13 is evil and brings bad luck is so strong that many hotels, office and apartment buildings do not have or recognize a 13th floor, airports usually do not have a 13th gate and many people stay home on Friday the 13th.

?

The Chinese and ancient Egyptians believed the number 13 brings good fortune. The Egyptians believed in 12 stages in life toward spiritual enlightenment. The 13th stage was the eternal afterlife. In this sense, death was not a place of fear, but a place of high regard for the afterlife.

?

One theory about why this negative belief about the number 13 exists is that Judas, who betrayed Jesus, was the 13th person to be seated at the Last Supper.

?

In 1881, a group of New Yorkers set out to debunk this and all other superstitions and formed a group called the Thirteen Club. Its first meeting took place on Friday the 13th at 8:13 pm and 13 people sat down to dinner in room number 13. To get into the room each guest walked under a ladder and sat down around piles of spilled salt. Needless to say, all of the guests survived. For the next 40 years, Thirteen Clubs cropped all over the U.S., but then faded from popularity.

?

It is believed that because some people do not fly, invest or even leave the house on Friday the 13th, there is a notable loss in business transactions.
